Teachers
support each other are open to discussions focused on their teaching.
The development of an aligned curriculum aligned with CCSS was accomplished through extensive Professional Development for all of our educators. The curriculum development discussions were facilitated by consultants with input from most of our educators. Implementation has been monitored by our principals and curriculum consultants as well as our Assistant Superintendent. This initiative spanned the last three years and all members of our school community were involved.
What we found surprising about our involvement in Race to the Top...
Using a collaborative model to accomplish curriculum alignment was very successful. We attained teacher support for the initiative and were able to obtain results without having to contract with an educational company for support. Teachers were energized by this process and appreciated being part of the development.
Race to the Top impacted our district by...
Teachers
have worked hard at the implementation of the new curriculum. The work has
strengthened the team approach in all of our schools. Teachers support each
other, have been more open to discussion focused on their teaching and have
worked closely with school and district administrators.
In the future, we plan to keep this going through...
We
will continue to have periodic meeting to evaluation the CCSS implementation in
our district. We will encourage model classrooms so that we can offer job
embedded PD for our teachers. We will work on establishing additional planning
time for our teachers to conduct professional conversations to learn from each
other.Questions?
